What is it? 🤷‍♂️

Shadowdock is an immersive light and sound production taking place in Thompson Dry Dock - The Birthplace of the Titanic. The show will narrate a story of Belfast People, what they have achieved and inspire ideas of change.

The idea has been developed by Henry Sykes and Three's Theatre Company and is part of the Belfast 2024 projects. With a team of light and sound designers taking on the challenge to create something spectacular.

There are two ways to experience Shadowdock. Above Deck (looking into the dock from ground level) and Below Deck (being a participant within the Dock). Unfortunately downstairs can only be accessed by 66 steep steps and is not suitable for under 16s or anyone with mobility issues. Please be aware of this when purchasing your ticket.

Accessibility

Above Deck is accessible but rough underfoot with gravel. Toilets are available inside Titanic Distillers. There is a metre high barrier that can be easily seen through to enjoy the show Below Deck.

Below Deck has uneven ground/tarmac underfoot and 66 steep metal steps to get down to. Unfortunately this makes it unsuitable for those with mobility issues or health concerns that would make entering or exiting the dock via these stairs difficult.

Weather ☔

Shadowdock is an outdoor light and sound experience, in Belfast, in September. We are crossing our fingers for sunshine and bright skies every night, but please do check the weather forecast and dress appropriately, and maybe bring an umbrella just incase. The show takes place after sunset, so dress warm as you will be standing outside at night-time.

Please wear sensible shoes.

The show will go ahead in rainy conditions, and only be cancelled if there is extreme weather, in which case your ticket will be refunded.

Children 🧒

Shadowdock take place in a rugged venue, there are safety barriers Above Deck and unfortunately due to health and safety, no under 16s are permitted Below Deck. The show is 30mins long and starts at 8pm. There are moving lights, colour and a beautiful soundscape with no strong language. Whilst the show isn't catered for children, we feel it will be enjoyed by the whole family, Above Deck. Prams will be able to navigate upstairs.

Under 5s go FREE Above Deck - please still purchase a ticket for them for numbers

No under 16s without an adult

Only 16+ Below Deck

Will there be food & drink?

Our partners at Titanic Distillers will be open for refreshments befor and afterwards. No alcohol or persons under the influence of alcohol will be permitted Below Deck for safety reasons.

There should also be hot drinks and light snacks available but we are working with suppliers at the moment, so come back nearer the time and we will have more info.
